  1. A dictionary definition of cheating is as follows: an act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, esp. in a game or examination. With this I feel like mostly everyone in this world cheats because they want to gain an advantage in their ladder of success whether it's a sport, or something academic. I think in the world that we have now, cheating has become a common action in terms of business that everyone overlooks it. I think it’s definitely necessary to cheat in the modern world because climbing the ladders of economic status and class is one of the hardest things to do in this country. For example, a man will take advantage of every opportunity just so he can get a raise and put food on the table for his family. There are of course consequences to this. I’ll use Jordan Belfort’s story as an example, he cheated by manipulating the stock market and convincing penniless citizens to buy stocks that will never rise and profit. This is of course where cheating takes a bad turn and will get the person in trouble. In my opinion, I think cheating should only be done if it doesn’t violate the federal law or the masses in the long run.

  2. Cheating is a form dishonesty and unfairness in order to gain an advantage. Basically, Cheating is saying you did a task you were responsible for, however you know you did not do it and instead make someone else do it for you just because you wanted good feedback Cheating is not taking information or quotes from a passage and citing it. I do not think its necessary to cheat in the modern world because if you cheat, you don't care to learn about the material you are learning and you will get no where. If a culture of cheating is formed in society, people would feel like cheating is ok then no one would care about learning about the material in school and there would be no reason for school. For example, if you stole someones project that they worked on for 3 days. And all you did to the project was erase their name and out your name, that would be considered cheating because you know nothing about the topic yet you have a project about that topic with your name on it.

  3. There is not just one definition of the word "cheat", but there are many definitions and forms. Such as cheating with defraud or scandal, deceive, or to violate rules or regulations for personal gain. All of these forms of cheating are bad, but, the question is, should you cheat? Well the answer is up to you, there are laws and moral regulations to stop you but, those don't really matter. What matters is what happens to you personally when you cheat. say a student copies off another students work, that tried hard and studied. The cheating student may get credit for that assignment, but he will not learn. The only thing the student will learn, is that you can get away with anything, if you don't get caught that is, which in undeniably untrue. You will get caught by cheating, though it may not be your teacher or the law, it will be by reality. The reality is, if you cheat, your scandalizing or sabotaging your intelligence, which could lead to disastrous consequences into the future. Say there's a medical student in medical school, who cheats all through the school year, and even graduates. Yet in the future, that same student has to perform a surgery, that could mean life or death, and that person is in that students uneducated hands. Think before you cheat, because there will always be a consequence to every action

  4. Cheating is a type of dishonest, unnatural act to create an advantage for yourself for whatever you are doing. There are many types of cheating and they are all used to make the end results of an action better. Cheating is any kind of way to gain advantage in whatever you are doing, like a job or a sport. Generally, humanity does whatever it takes to survive or be successful, even if that means doing something in an unorthodox way. Dishonesty is the source of considering what is cheating and what is not. I believe that in some cases, cheating is necessary in the modern world because without it, some people would not be as successful as they are. For example, Diana Taurasi, a famous female basketball player, was cheating in practice and games by taking medication that makes you feel less fatigued. Without cheating, she would not be known as one of the best woman basketball players. Although this example can be quite controversy, is it not the same as drinking an energy drink to study late night for a test? As long as the cheating does not have an abominable long-term consequence for other people, I believe it is okay to cheat because cheating is used in small everyday things without much harm to others. People lie about their age to pay less for a movie or a meal. In today's world, we already have a society of cheaters, which can cause some harm. As long as you know what will come after cheating, it can be okay. I believe that by cheating for only certain things, the world can be more efficient by taking advantage of what is present. Cheating is just a natural instinct of survival.

  5. Cheating is a form of deception where the users or individual cheating are using what can be referred to a "last resort". It can be used to gain some sort of advantage over something you may or may not know. However cheating can be implemented on almost anything in our daily lives. Mostly cheating is used in school, on almost anything if set individual can make it work. However cheating is only made to hurt you in the future and help you for a extremely short amount of time. It detain the individual from learning the topic, and can develop a habit of cheating in the future. People can argue that cheating can be good depending on the situation, yes and no. Cheating can only be good if it is not applied to an academic environment if i can say that). Cheating can lead to future problems, if applied to college it can lead you the individuals expelling, or possibly rejection of assignment.

  6. Cheating, not being limited to cheating in school, is dishonest and deceitful in every form. But I believe that in certain scenarios, especially in today's society, cheating is an adaptive and useful tool for success. Although I understand that cheating can really only hurt you in the long run, it is a way for students who are unable to keep up with the material to succeed. There will never be a way for schools across the country to condone and accept cheating, but if only teachers and administrators can see it from the students point of view. Lets face it, not every student can understand math or maybe even science, but since they must take these courses in order to graduate or to meet the standards of college. Therefore, I believe that students should not be punished for cheating because it is a prime example of adapting when times are tough.

  7. Cheating nowadays has become way too easy. People put their words and thoughts out on the internet and in the world constantly. People trust that information will be known from the source but people decide not to cite sources often. In all honestly, it is quite unnecessary for people to cheat in this present time. In this modern world it is unnecessary to use a source without citing it because you are almost guaranteed to be found out. The consequences of a culture who thinks it is fine to cheat, is that the people of the society will slowly become less original. People will soon run out of ideas and no longer be creative. A society that cheats, is not a society I would want to be in.

  8. Cheating is the immoral way of achieving a goal (Wikipedia). Cheating in my opinion happens because someone wants to accomplish something that is difficult. For example, a student cheats on a test because the student wants to get a good grade on the test. Lance Armstrong for example, he was famed as an amazing cyclist, but when they found out that he cheated on all of his races by using steroids. This has defamed of all of his medals and is going to be shunned for the rest of his life. If a person cheats, the person is given an unfair advantage over the people that actually trained many years to be able to accomplish a goal. Cheating is only appropriate, when it does not hurt anyone else and it benefits yourself. Cheating in the modern world is only appropriate, when evading taxes. You should only do this, when actually don’t have the money to pay for your taxes. The government won’t lose anything, since you cannot pay for the taxes. However, cheating in the modern world can make you suffer heavy consequences like using steroids. The people that do this deserve to be punished harshly, since it hurts other people. If we actually have a society that is based off of cheating, cheating would not exist. Since everyone would be cheating, you can cheat the cheater. There would be a neutral ground, but the society would be crumbled. The worth of accomplishing a goal would be destroyed and everyone would not care for each other. In our society, cheating is looked down upon and this might change, if more and more people cheat in our society.

  9. Cheating is wrong because we all know the consequences of cheating and is it really worth it not only do you get a zero on a test or quiz but you get suspended. Now people are finding new ways to cheat and sometimes teachers don't even notice even if the student is making it obvious that he/she is cheating. In my own opinion cheating should never be used it is idiotic and you won't learn anything from cheating. When it comes to cheating you have to think about why you are cheating, why didn't you just study? It would have been easier for you and if you didn't have time than just accept your fate and get a bad grade, cheating has been and will always be apart of this society.

  10. Even though I know that cheating is bad, i still feel like it can be helpful for some situations. In today's society everything is difficult. People always find a way to get what they want, and sometimes cheating is an option. I don't think that cheating is such a bad thing. If it's something small then I understand, but if it's something big then it's not a good idea. An example of something big is Lance Armstrong. People looked up to him; he was ideal to a lot of people and i do think what he did was something stupid. Cheating in situations like that is something that is wrong, but if its something small then i don't think it's not that bad.

  11. Cheating is a way for someone not run away from their problems and sneaking their way out of it. Cheating is often done when someone needs a way of a problem for example, a student during a test. They don’t know the answers to the questions and their way of escaping the problem would simply be just cheat. I feel like in the modern world today, cheating should not be allowed. A person should accomplish their goals and become the best they can be without cheating. Cheating is a sign of failure, it is used for people who can’t face their problems head on or for people who simply just don’t work hard. An example of cheating is a sign of failure is Lance Armstrong. He was celebrated as the greatest cyclist of all time, then once people found out he was using steroids all his fame and glory was gone. His fame was gone in an instant all because he decided to cheat. If he just worked hard and didn’t cheat then he wouldn’t become the failure he is today in the sports world. The consequences he received for cheating was fitting. His awards were all taken away and most importantly his reputation was ruined. He did not deserve all the hype and attention that went his way and going from one of the most famous loved athlete to just a cheater should be the worse punishment there is. Consequences for cheating in today’s society all depends on the cheating that was done. For school, it should be suspension or even expulsion and cheating in other things should result in getting caught and having to deal with the law. I want to live in a world where people work hard for what they achieve and not just cheat their ways into the world and can’t rely on themselves to get things done.

  13. I consider cheating as a lazy and a non-effort work with no skills. I consider not cheating when comparing answers. I don't think its necessary because we got teachers to help and textbooks to help. Why cheat when you have help. Teachers are the number one tool if you need help or if your confused. Cheating may make your writing style look good and fine, but did you really learn anything, YEAH name cheating! People who cheat takes no time and effort to make hard work to an A plus. If you cheat the consequences are parent conference and expellion. I would consider to fail a class and learn something than not cheat and learn nothing.

  14. Cheating is an act that is immoral, used to achieve something by ways of breaking rules unfairly. Cheating have been used to lazily achieve goals, like winning competitions copying work.. What would be considered cheating are committing acts that are unfair to others, by taking other’s disadvantages to your advantage that are beyond what is moral to others. What cheating is depends on a person's morality, and what is generally called cheating is what the majority of the population considers something immoral. It is necessary to cheat in the modern world, because changing what is wrong in the views of many people is needed to open the minds of others to think beyond what is outside their limitations. Certain acts of cheating are not necessary, especially acts that are influenced by laziness. When a culture of cheating is formed in society, society will change their rules and their thoughts of morality to adapt to what is known as cheating.

  15. Cheating is a strategy that most students use to get to the top, so good colleges can notice them easily. I notice that student cheat more often as they grow older in their academic life, which means that things get more tense and competitive. In High School, researchers show that students in honors tend to cheat more often. I understand that because if an individual cheats in a top class, a grade that they would get would be weighted. So if the math is right, you can cheat and get a bonus on top of that. So Honors class is they way to go for most cheaters. Not saying that all honors students are cheaters. Furthermore, once they are done with the course, the student will most likely not get in trouble because the existence of cheating is not there anymore and what’s there to lose? Though, cheating is bad, Mark Zuckerberg once said “The biggest risk is not taking any risk... In a world that changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks.” A good example of a cheater is Vanilla Ice. Vanilla ice stole the bassline from David Bowie and Queen’s “Under Pressure.” Vanilla Ice did not give any credit to anyone but himself and his DJ and his popular 1991 single made him famous, but in the end Vanilla Ice couldn’t possibly write his own music. Once his hit single warmed up, his character and name was fading away. In my opinion, a student should only cheat when it’s necessary and not get caught. If you get caught, then your whole future is a wrap. Also “You Only Live Once” so make it count for you and your future.

  16. Cheating is an act of dishonesty and it is a selfish act because it gives the person personal gain. I believe cheating is a skill we have to learn in the modern world. For example, during the 60 minutes video clip of Sam Eshaghoff, those 16 students were either lazy, or desperate to get a decent SAT score. I believe cheating is necessary to modern society. The SAT’s can make or break what college you can get into; which can lead to a successful job. The desperate students know that no matter how much they study; they will not get a good score. Due to this fact, those students cheat to get into a competitive college. Cheating has its consequences though. High school is where you prepare to go into a college, and if you cheated to get into the college, you must work harder to pass the classes because you didn’t learn the material back in highschool because you cheated. Cheating does not just happen in schools; cheating also happens in businesses, sports, and videogames. From my personal experience, cheating in video games may seem fun at first, but it gets boring because there are no new challenges and in competitive games, it ruins the fun for your teammates and your opponents. Comparing this to modern society, if everybody cheated, there would be no reason to work hard, you will not face new challenges to overcome, and you will not achieve goals. In my eyes, there will be no sense of living in that society because the value of life has decreased.

  17. Cheating is an act of deceiving through lies or trickery (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). It occurs when others want to accomplish goals, but cannot seem to reach it or want an easy way out of a difficult situation rather than actually facing it. Cheating can simply be looking at another person’s paper during a test and getting a perfect score or it could be not giving credit to the original author/artist, also known as plagiarism. What I do not consider cheating is actually doing your own assigned project without copying another student’s creation. I do not think it is necessary to cheat in the modern world because cheating shows that people are not willing to learn and are not challenging themselves. I understand that cheating may be put into use for the short-term because it may give others an advantage, but it will basically hurt yourself in the long-run. For example, a student who uses someone else’s paper then uses it for her/his assignment may get sued by the creator and must pay for the damages. In my opinion, cheating is wrong and it will have outcomes that may affect you. It is better to be safe and not cheat rather than to be sorry.

  18. It is only cheating if you get caught. Just kidding! Or am I? For many, cheating can be what stands between success and failure in one's life. In some situations, cheating is the only way to get by. For example, imagine a bright student, struggling to keep up with his/her grades because the stress and abuse of their home life overcomes them. There is just way too much going on in their life to stay focused on grades. In this case, this student's only way of getting by in school is cheating. Although this student knows it is wrong, it is their only chance to make it by in life and not end up in the same place their parents did. When you think about it, there is nothing this student could lose anyway. Getting caught cheating wouldn’t be such a big deal and will most likely be worth the risk. Especially in today’s society, there are no breaks. There are no chances. If you screw up in school, there is no way to redeem yourself unless you are super talented and can somehow make it some other way. If cheating is the way to go, then so be it. I believe that there are certain circumstances where cheating is necessary, like the scenario that I mentioned above. If there is absolutely no other way, no other choice, no other option, cheating will have to be the preference. If one were to cheat simply because they are lazy and do not want to do their work, then THAT would be considered true cheating. This would include copying the work of others, sharing answers to tests and worksheets, etc. However, when you think about it, nearly every single high school student has cheated at least once. In fact, it’s become the norm in today’s society. It happens so often, some people don’t even consider it cheating anymore. I’m sure that every single person reading this post has said “Let me see your homework” at least once. It is not necessarily a bad thing. It just sets yourself up for a more difficult future. Cheating is a bad habit. When you come to the point in your life when cheating is no longer in an option, you will find yourself struggling to catch up with the other people that worked hard to get to the spot where they are in life. Ultimately, cheating isn’t necessarily “wrong”, it’s a choice that people can choose to make. However, the consequences will definitely affect them later in life.

  19. Cheating shows a lack of intelligence and shows that you do not care for your work. Cheating seems to be worse in the modern days which should not be happening due to advanced technology to find out more information. You shouldn't be cheating during a test because it was your responsibility to study for your test as you know that it was coming up soon. I would rather fail than cheating because the consequences of cheating are way worse.

  20. The things that constitute cheating is copying someones work without even trying it out yourself or copying someones work and putting it on your own words or saying that it is yours. The things i would not consider cheating is probably if someone is helping you with hw and you copy their answer and work and they explain how they got that answer at least you learn something you just needed extra help.I think that in some circumstances that it is necessary to cheat i’m not saying its a good thing to cheat just sometimes you don't understand something you can either ask for help but if there is no one around that is one time that it is necessary to cheat. The consequences when you are caught cheating or cheat is you don't learn anything what happens if that person is wrong and you get a bad grade its your fault for copying off some paper and if you are caught cheating you will probably get an F on your work and probably expelled.

  21. I consider cheating as a way of living. We have been cheating for most of our lives because if you think about it who hasn't cheat before. Yes, people might have been caught of cheating, and got the consequences they deserved, but what about the other people people who didn't not get caught from cheating. They're probably living their life like an ordinary person. Yes the guilt might be there inside of us, but it can be forgotten and move on. I think it it is necessary to cheat in the modern world because some people might not get the idea of how we are moving in the technology world. At the same time I don't think its necessary because all the informations are in front of you and you can just study from that and not fail. The consequences of cheating are very different in grade schools. For example if you get caught cheating in elementary, they call your parents. In middle school you get detentions and get a zero, as well as high school too. In college you'll probably get kicked out of the college you are going to.

  22. Cheating is a way most student uses to get good grades. Some student take cheating to a whole different level. The consequences of cheating in High school is that you would get a 0 on the assignment, but in college they would just kick you out. I would consider using someone's work for your own or copying someone else's answer on a test/homework as cheating, but it would not be considered cheating if you are "comparing" answers or just asking for help. Most people when they grow older still cheat to achieve greater things, but think "highly of themselves". Cheating can not only be used in school, but it is also implemented in games. Playing a match or a board game with a cheater isn't fun. No one likes a cheater. When a culture of cheating is formed in a society, the consequences of it is that it would give jobs to cheaters who doesn't deserve the job. The cheaters would steal other peoples work and use it as their own.

  23. Cheating is a way to basically go the easy way out. Some people would rather cheat on a test then actually study for it. Others would rather cut in line because wherever they have to be is more important than the other people's destinations. Cheating isn't really necessary if the person actually prepares themselves for whatever they have to do. If they prepare themselves, they'd be able to do whatever they want with their own original idea instead of someone else's. The consequences usually end up being that someone would no longer have any original thoughts or ideas, instead they rely on others for help. Though after a while people would stop allowing them to cheat and then that person will be somewhat lost, not knowing what to do. If someone cheats, they're not thinking for themselves. They're not learning and they're just stealing someone's own personal idea and marking it as their own.

  24. I think that society is a getting lazy and I think that it's probably the reason why many people are cheating. I’ve seen my peers cheating during a test while the teacher isn't looking; they put their notes under their chair, tell their friends the answers (benefits for them, but not themselves), looking at the person next to them, having their phones under their desk to find the actual/fake answers. As long as you don't get caught, you'll be fine right? Yes it’s true that you'll get a better grade by cheating off of someone smart; unless the person next to you didn’t study as well, and both of you will get a low score. I think there is times when you need to cheat in the modern world, not everyone is perfect. However, if cheating is growing stronger into society, we won't be able to learn anything. People should’ve actually study beforehand. An example of cheating that I found in YouTube is by a youtuber, sWooZie, who created videos such as “Cheating in High School / Middle School / College” (unappropriated language in videos). I have cheated by looking at the person next to me, or whispering to my friends “What did you put for number 3?” and so on. As I'm happy that I got a better score for that test, I didn't learn anything except that the answer for 3 was B. The consequences of cheating is that the person won't be able to learn anything. When it is the final exam, that person won't answer that question and will get a low score. When a person has been caught cheating, it'll be into their record and probably won’t be able to get into a better college. What's more is that if you keep asking your peers for answers, they'll think you are annoying. People wouldn't admit that they are cheating and give a “smart” excuse by saying, “It's not called cheating, it’s called I need to pass this class”.

  25. Cheating is an example of extreme laziness and inability to think for oneself. Stealing the answers to a test, copying lyrics into your own song, using another persons essay, these are all examples of how desperate people can become. Although they certainly contain the qualities needed to think for themselves and to be creative, they simply find it easier to not only lower their self worth but make another persons had work go down the drain. Suppose that cheater gets accepted to a top notch college because of his ability to copy so well, or the boss of your job has managed to cheat his way there. Not only is that unfair, but the special opportunities that rightfully belong to some are going to those who don't deserve nor qualify for them. Think before you cheat, because eventually everything comes to light.

  26. Cheating is basically people taking the easiest way out of certain situations, and not doing a lot of work. An example of cheating might be someone copying someone elses work. The person copying is not doing any work for themselves, and are just taking the credit that the other person has done. In most situations there is almost always some way to cheat. If people continue to cheat in the modern world, they will never have the ability to think for themselves, and they will always rely on other people to do their work for them. Even though cheating is wrong, in some situations it is necessary to cheat only if there is no other way to do a certain thing. People these days always cheat because they think they can get away with it, and will always have someone or something to be there for them. If you want to be successful in life, you should think for yourself and be the person that other people want to copy off of.

  27. Cheating is when a person does a certain number of things that gives them an unfair advantage over another in an activity. An example of cheating could be that a person taking an exam copies the answers of another person taking the same exam taking those answers as their own. In reality, it is necessary to cheat because some people cannot become successful or survive in the real world without cheating. These people could possibly be suffering from a biological, economical, or mental disadvantages. However, if a society is created that has a culture of cheating, this society could possibly not advance in the next stage of evolution or innovation because everyone in this society is "cheating" from everyone leading to no new original ideas to be formed.

  28. Cheating is the act of stealing another's work to use it as one's own. However, cheating is NOT using the ideas of others to help build new ones, but instead completely using those ideas to appear as if they are original. In the modern world, it is completely unnecessary to cheat because of the accessible resources most humans have. It is incredibly easy to find the ideas of others, and then build one's own, instead of having to completely build new ideas from scratch. If a culture develops the ideal that cheating is acceptable, that society would suffer from a lack of originality and an altered ability to progress. This is due to the fact that very few new ideas would be introduced, because everyone would be too busy stealing the ideas of others. Humans as a whole would develop into automatons who wait for others to think for them, and would become very easy to control. Over time, this would bring forth a society similar to that of the one imagined in George Orwell's 1984: bland, uncreative, and ruled by the few who dared to think for themselves. Overall, cheating is an unacceptable act that will only lead to unoriginality, lack of creativity, and stalled human progression.

  29. From what i have read from the dictionary the meaning of the word cheat is dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, esp. in a game or examination. People cheat because they either don’t know what they are doing, lazy, or they want to boost themselves up towards to their goal. I think that by cheating, us human individually will never progress on because we will start copying the person next to you and if we keep cheating on other we will never learn anything. I don’t blame them if they do cheat at a project, assignment, or at their work and etc. that because sometime cheating is good because by cheating you’re saying that you don’t know anything about this and you will motivate yourself to learn that specific thing that you don’t know so if you ever that to take it again this time you’ll be able to respond to it. In my opinion cheating isn’t good especially in the modern world, I say its not okay because cheating in the modern world has more risks than cheating in school and other minority things like board games, card games and etc. because for example if you cheat in a card games the worst punishment that you’ll probably get is that you won't be able to play with your friends until they start the game over, but if you were to cheat in the modern world the worst punishment that you can have probably arrested and sent to prison for whoever knows how long you’ll be there.

If people in the whole world cheat them the people who did the work will feel mad at who took his work. The cheater will get away but they will not always get away with cheating. 31. It would be a lie to say that cheating doesn't exist in this day and age. From simple schoolwork to top notch corporations, cheating is blatantly apparent in everyday life. On the school level, it might be considered as asking a friend for answers on a test, or -now that we're in the modern age- copying and pasting a Google document to claim as one's own. The worse consequences for school cheating would be detention, a zero as a grade, or even a referral. On a larger scale, it could mean stealing someone's ideas for a prototype of a product, or a name of a company. Those who cheat in the adult world must pay a higher price for their actions, such as imprisonment and a loss of trust. The question that is being asked now is: Is cheating bad?
In my perspective, people who cheat are just working towards what they want. It may not be the best way to get somewhere, but at least they're doing something about it. Those that cheat are adaptive, and know how to use their environment to their advantage. However, it is true that in the long run, they are actually hurting themselves. Cheating is not justifiable, but it is unavoidable. It will happen, regardless of any measures that people will take.
You could look at this issue from two different viewpoints. 1) Cheating leads to an untrustworthy society or 2) it represents an innovative one. It is possibly a blend of both. Though I am not a supporter of this act, I do understand the reasoning behind it.

  32. I believe that cheating is any kind of copying or using others work as your own. I do not think that it is necessary to cheat in the modern world because anything that you copy can be produced just as well, if not better, by your own mind. I don't think you need to cheat. From my own personal experience, I do not cheat and I'm able to keep my grades fairly well. You don't need to cheat because everyone has the ability to do things for themselves, it's just a question of whether or not they have the drive to do it. I think that when a culture is founded on ideas of cheating, it won't succeed. No one will get credit for anything they do and hostility will rise. You then have major conflicts between people. If cheating was okay, think of all the problems we would have. There would be constant chaos. There would be tons of arguing and people pretending to be something they're not. What if a brilliant scientist got their work copied by someone who wasn't so smart? We would have someone who clearly should be spreading his ideas, but someone else is getting credit for them. It's not right. It's false intelligence and when it comes to the real world and applying those ideas, that person who stole them won't have any idea how to use them. He will just know that, "I copied them and I'm getting credit so that's good enough for me." So in conclusion, no, cheating is not necessary, because everyone has the resources in their heads to create great ideas. It's just whether or not you choose to access that part of you, or cheat.

  33. Cheating can be defined as violating set rules or regulations. To me, cheating is the act of purposefully breaking the rules in order to gain some sort of advantage or to sustain a position. One could peek at someone else’s exam for answers to get a better grade, or one could take shortcuts to reach a goal. Regardless the circumstances, cheating is wrong. Although i can understand the reason some choose cheat, i believe a better alternative would be to work hard to achieve that goal manually. Setting goals for yourself and working towards those goals gives a sense of purpose, and once completed, a sense of achievement. The feeling of accomplishment is much better than feeling guilty or indifferent. I don’t think it’s necessary to cheat in the modern world, simply because we have the resources needed to live up to our potential at our fingertips. The only thing that can stop you from reaching a goal is a negative mindset and not having your priorities straight. If cheating were to become a culture in our society, i’m sure we would end up in a world devoid of new ideas. Instead of thinking for ourselves, the same thoughts would be recycled over and over, all claiming that they are ‘original’. The human mind is very complex and each one holds great potential to offer to the world, cheating smothers that.

  34. The definition of cheating depends on your point of view. Some will say taking ideas of others and saying you came up with it , or that finding a way out of a problem using unorthodox methods. There will always be people who cheat either because of laziness or simple not thinking on how it will effect them in the long run.I personally do not think that cheating is necessary to cheat. You feel pride i the fact that you did something fair and square. Feeling pride will lead to higher self confidence and improve your life as a whole. The consequences in the real world and at school are getting in trouble with the law and possible suspension. The consequences of cheating like that of trying to solve global warming will have a effect on the future that will cripple the ideas of morals. Humans have tended to change morals depending on how others will judge them. When the world relies on cheating as a way to get through life no one will get satisfaction. No one will receive credit for possible changing the world, which is a great feat.

  35. Cheating is to act dishonest to gain an advantage like for a game or a test. Many people cheat nowadays in life, and they have their reasons whether they don’t want to try or think its the easy way out. That is not the way someone should take in order to move up in society. All the people who cheat take advantage of all the honest people who did great work should learn that it is not right and stop what they were doing. Sadly, that is not what most people think, and they will keep cheating until they get caught, but by then its too late. You could get into so much trouble and you might not ever make it out of the society into an honest field. I think that people cheat because that they have too. They are not able to do well without that or they don’t care and just want a good score. I consider it cheating to use information outside your head that was not given to you and use it on a particular matter such as a test. I don’t call research cheating unless you are told not to do it. It is not necessary to cheat in the modern world, because all you really need to do is work hard for the grade you want. I understand that school is gets harder as you grow, but then you need to change and work hard to your goal. If everyone in a society would cheat, then how would any good work be done. Everything would be bad in the society and it wouldn't last long at all. Lets say that you want to hire someone for your company then who would you hire a cheater or a honest man? Honest people are much better people to be friends with or work with. If there was a society that would not cheat then that would open a lot more doors for everyone. In general, cheating is a big problem that needs to stop as it isn't fair to everyone else.

  36. The value of cheating depends on how someone perceives it. Whether someone cheats or not all depends on the amount of integrity the individual has. Cheating, in my personal opinion, is an act of desperateness. I believe that some people are dependent on cheating because they have no confidence is themselves, so they steal from someone else. Of course cheating is unacceptable thing, but I think cheating can also slightly mean that the student does actually care about how well he/she is going to do in their class. To me, the fact that they do care also means that they have the utmost potential to change and do better the right way.

  37. Cheating is when a person does an act of dishonesty by not following the set of given rules. Everything that does not break any major and important rules in a person's life is not considered cheating to me. Though cheating is considered "morally bad" by people, reality is that cheating is something people do all the time. I believe that cheating is necessary in the modern world, because if you don't cheat, you are going to get cheated on by life. I firmly believe that if you do not cheat in the modern world today, you will not survive reality. Though cheating is necessary in life, I do think that you should only cheat when needed. I think cheating for your own personal desires/benefits is not acceptable and shouldn't be done. If the modern world comes to be a type of world where cheating is a culture I think the world would be a place without trust or true friendship. It will be a terrible place to live. Cheating may be dishonest and not the right thing to do by many people's morals, but I believe that you do need some of it in life and reality.

  38. The definition of "cheating" varies from person to person, in general it means to gain advantage through inappropriate means, and usually to accomplish something. Cheating is not right, because most people prefer to play fair games. To me, it is not cheating that is intolerable, it is the fact that "he used my work to get better than me", or simply put, jealousy. Nowadays the society consider results over process, so cheating is simply another way to achieve the "results". Cheating happens all the time, however only a small fraction of them can ever be caught. Those who cheat on tests may score really well, or even better than the victim. Why? Because when the tests are graded, the teachers, or machines does not care about how the cheater got to the answer. If the answer is correct, then it is correct. We do not have a flawless anti-cheat system like games can have. All we can do is to alarm the cheaters by making the consequences severe, like "marking the person as disreputable", or even take the person to the court.
Sometimes though, the society can force people to cheat, even if they do not want to. Say a strait A student takes a test, and suddenly he finds a high-point-value question that he does not understand. To maintain his A, he would have no choice but to risk and cheat. Why does he have to? Because the society pressures him to do so. He knows he is expected to be good, to go to a good college, or to find a good job. He does not want to disappoint anyone, he cannot afford to disappoint anyone. Such things do happen, but are not tolerated by the society if it is ever revealed. The cheaters may be victims themselves.

  39. The definition of the word "cheating" is, an act of dishonestly and unfairly in order to gain an advantage especially in a game or examination. Some of the consequences for cheating would be class failure, suspension and expulsion. Some examples for cheating would be that students might be placed on academic probation and would have their own work carefully monitored. If there cheating was very severe, the student would be suspended or even expelled from school. In high school, cheating is rarely caught because there is only one teacher per 30 students and they really cant monitor everything that is going around the class.

  40. Cheating is an easy way out of a situation unfairly. I think cheating is a bad thing to do but everyone does it. I’m not saying everyone should cheat but cheating will never go away even when the person cheating knows the consequences if they are caught. They do that because they have no self confidence in their work and they are desperate. For example, if someone plagiarize on an essay on purpose because they were lazy to do the work, i would consider that as cheating. The consequence of these behavior are usually getting a zero on the essay or being kicked out of the college that will ruin your academic reputation. Basically all form of cheating, such as copying homework, plagiarizing and hacking games are all considered cheating for me. I don’t think cheating is needed for the modern world since there are more advance technology today than it was before.

  41. The definition of cheating varies for different people. Some people might see cheating as a good thing, others might not. Cheating can mean a lot of different things. There is the school cheating, which is different from cheating in a relationship. However they both involve dishonesty. According to me, cheating acting in a dishonest way to achieve something to your benefit. That could be either a good grade on a test, more money, or a better relationship. A person cheats when they feel like there is no other way for them to achieve what they want. What I consider cheating can range from something as simple as peeking at the test of a person next to you, to something as complex as cheating a company out of their money. I believe that if you have the consent of the other person, then it is not considered cheating. Back then, cheating was considered a terrible thing to do and was looked down upon many people. However, I feel that cheating is changing in society's eyes in the modern world. Cheating is not as looked down upon anymore because everyone does it. Some people might not acknowledge what they did as cheating, but that doesn't change the fact that it isn't. I think it is necessary to cheat in the modern world now because so many people do it. The world now is all about survival of the fittest. To survive you have to learn how to control the cheating system. Companies that were able to rise the top in power and money most likely cheated other companies. If cheating becomes a culture in society then society will lose it's individuality and creativity. People will rely on each other for ideas and answers and won't think for themselves. It also becomes a lot harder to trust others when cheating is normal in society. Overall nothing good comes out of cheating.

  42. Cheating is a way for someone to gain credit for work he/she does not do just so they wont get the bad grade or even get in trouble. I find this ridiculous because either you don't do the work and get in trouble or you cheat and also risk the chance of getting in even more trouble. Personally I consider anything that has someone taking credit for someone else's work as cheating. It is not necessary for anyone to cheat in the modern world because many people have proven that with pure hard work you can undoubtedly reach success in any field of work. Although i know it is never needed in the modern world it is always going to happen, people will always try to take the easy way out but end up making it even worse for themselves in the final aspect of it all. I believe that already we are very close to being a society where we rely on cheating all to much. Currently there are many people that rely on cheating as a way toward success and I truly never see it going away because there will always be people that will be tempted or will solely rely on cheating for their success in life.

  43. Cheating is basically getting around a problem as easy as possible. Cheating is also viewed differently depending on the person. In my opinion, cheating takes skill and it requires creativity, but it shouldn’t be praised. It comes with consequences once you’re caught. It’s understandable why some people do it, as in they didn’t have time to study and stayed up late, they want an advantage in something, and so on. Cheating is very risky, and I personally think that it is okay to cheat if it’s something small (like a small quiz or something that doesn’t affect you), but if it were something major (like a competition or a relationship or something that deals with money and reputation) then it wouldn’t be worth it and I’m assuming it wasn’t thought through enough.

  44. Cheating is finding the easiest possible route to get through something. Most of the time, it's dishonest and shows that the person lacks the skills to preform the task. Some cheaters can be extremely creative in how the perform the act, but they shouldn't be praised for it. Cheating doesn't cause any harm if it's for a tiny task, like a practice quiz, but if it's for an essay or a major project it'll do more harm than good. Cheating on a major assignment will end up in you lying about the skills used to complete the assignment and you might end up getting caught and getting severely punished for it. Cheating is an immoral act and if someone cheats for an essay or project and get away with it, they should feel extremely guilty for what they've done.

  45. When I first hear the would cheating the definition of “doing something dishonest so that person would gain something.” Most people would say that cheating would get you nowhere in life and that the person has no sign of integrity in them. However that’s not how I see it. I see cheating as a way of thinking outside the box, finding loopholes in the system, and ultimately finding newer methods to progress in life. I think cheating is totally necessary in the modern world; today in society it’s basically survival of the fittest. I’m not saying to kill people or steal millions of people’s money to get to the top, but more like to play situations with street smarts rather than academic smarts (however both of them are valuable in modern day society). Which brings me into my view on education as a whole. On the link “cheatingculture.com” it showed the statistics of how students in higher academic classes cheat more than students in regular classes, and frankly I’m not suprised. A great sense of the student population believe that schools now only care about the grades - that grades label you’re worth. That sense of actually learning something is losing its value and what we do at school now is just regurgitate knowledge we cram into our brains for tests then completely forget about it within a week. It’s pretty evident if you look at students’ twitter and tumblr. The consequences when a culture of cheating is formed in society is that when it becomes a norm, which I think it’s getting very close to, people won’t have a sense of integrity and credibility. But when have we ever had a society that no one ever cheated? Our society today is what it is not because of honesty and hardworking but because people cheat.

  46. In a personal opinion, cheating is the act of taking an unfair advantage during an event. Although cheating is defined in many ways, the most common acts are present in schools. However, what is considered cheating differs from person to person. Such as in another personal opinion, copying certain or small parts of homework between two students is not considered cheating. I believe this because the student who is copying the work may not have understood the question correctly but when the work is copied the student may understand it fully. Yet, when the student who is copying, takes down more than one or two problems I consider that to be cheating because the student is not learning but taking an unfair advantage by taking another students hard work. To cheat in the modern world, I think would not be necessary, mostly because ideas are constantly being changed and revised, so cheating would just be a waste of time and energy that could go to something more important. When a culture of cheating is formed in society, the consequences could be very harmful. I think this because if cheating is used more often than the norm, then the majority would be taking unfair advantages over each other, landing them in more confusing atmospheres because no one would be able to understand. Since it is just a copy of a copy of a another copy that just remains unexplained.

  48. According to the dictionary, to cheat is to gain advantage by acting dishonestly or unfairly. People have cheated at least once in their lifetime. Sometimes, we have to cheat to get what we want. Some people are willing to cheat to get a good grade on their work. But, when taking information, I believe that it wouldn't hurt to give credit to the original author. I think that cheating is wrong, but sometimes we have to cheat to get our ways and that could lead to a good life, or if we were caught, it could do harm to our reputation. New York Times' writer, Jayson Blair, left his career in journalism after editors discovered many mistakes in his articles that he submitted and they all found out he took someone's elses work. If people are cheating by taking other people's work, or like doping for sport events, I think its absolutely wrong. But, if it's just one tiny word you forget in a test, I believe it's okay. They are just striving for success, and who knows where that might lead them to.

I wouldn't consider using the same ideas as cheating if you give credit to the original author. I think it is necessary to cheat in the real world to get ahead in life when you have no possible way to get ahead. The consequences of having a culture of cheating in society results in dishonesty and inaccurate grades and curricular for future students.

  50. I think that the term “cheating” depends on the person and the situation. For many, cheating is just a way out of having to do things like assignments, worksheets and reports, whether it be in a school environment or a workplace. But for some, it is the only way out of difficult situations that bring out one’s desperation and distress in life.
That’s why I believe that cheating is reasonable especially in our time and culture. The world’s become so competitive that the “playing field” is extremely out of balance and that “fair game” technically doesn’t even exist anymore since at some point, everybody’s cheated their way out of something, whether it be at school, at work or just at life. I mean, sure, I acknowledge that cheating is dishonest and just plain stealing but what can be done? Sure, there are those who succeed thanks to their specific gifts and talents but what about those who have none, who try their hardest yet achieve nothing because of how the playing field just doesn’t work for them. In reality, some people just aren’t gifted or aren’t ready as the rest and sometimes the only way for other people to succeed or even survive in our world is to cheat. So, as a point, what right do we have to judge the action of cheating the the people who use it? It’s used by different peoples of different classes whether at school or work so, technically, in our society, it’s everywhere and has been used by everybody at some point in time.

  51. Cheating is the act of breaking rules to gain an advantage. Anything from scamming to using the answers secretly to pass a test would all be considered cheating. It just creates bad habits in people and societies of lies. I feel that cheating happens when people get desperate. If a student is desperate enough he or she will consider cheating to solve his or problems. This is not a good idea in the long run because he or she will either depend on cheating to get through life and to live life knowing they did or fail trying. Unless the student does not cheat and face the consequences accordingly. Another example is if someone who is short money and are very close to bankruptcy. They would have the same options as the student but at a larger cost. He or she would have to either obtain money illegally and risk being prosecuted or live life homeless. Most of the time, no good comes from cheating. It might give the cheater a boost now but it might affect them negatively in the long run. In the modern world cheating is not necessary. It gets people arrested and forces the cheater to live with the guilt. If one is hardworking and does not create trouble they would not need to cheat. If they don't condone cheating in a society's culture, it would eventually fall apart. There won't be any trust between anyone. No one would know who to buy from that won't try to cheat their money from them. Overall it is a bad idea to cheat. I does nothing but teach people that cheating is risky and that it will give you what you want but at a price of long term problems to a short term solution.

  52. What I consider cheating is when someone takes the work of someone else and taking it as their own. Some examples are copying an answer from a friend's homework or using a quote from a book with giving the author credit. In the modern world, cheating is not necessary to get by in life. If the person actually knows and understands the concept, the person wouldn't have to cheat or ask for anything. Those that do cheat in this society we have now, they can be sent to jail for a decent amount of time. If it was in a school setting, the student could be kicked out of school or fail the course that the student cheated in. If it was in an official setting like a job, the person can be fired from their position or get demoted to the position the person was in when they started.

I think that cheating doesn’t help the person in the long run, but people can do it rarely. In today’s society, it is very hard to get money without cheating a little bit. Peer pressure makes people have the urge to cheat, but everybody knows it is wrong. On the bad side of cheating, you could be expelled from school if you do it too much, and be fired from work. If you cheat on a test, and are not found out, a similar problem similar to what was on the test could come up, and you would be hard-pressed to complete the problem on time.

  54. Nowadays students are cheating everyday at school. I would consider cheating by taking another person's word and making them your own in an essay without citing the source. For example, if a person takes another person's word from an article and cites the source , i would consider this as not cheating. I believe it's necessary to cheat in the modern world , because everyday us humans always learn something new, so for example at school students are forced to learn new subjects but sometimes are stuck and can't figure out the problem so the students cheats in order to pass the class or test. For example if a student gets caught cheating the consequences would be expelled from the school depending if the student is in college or high school. Another example i would like to point out is , when a scientist takes an idea or words from another scientist , but doesn't cite the sources the scientist would lose all of their credentials and credits which can be devastating.
